We are looking forward to welcoming back the children who attended our Nursery and are now joining us in Reception. We are also excited to meet the children who are new to Ruislip Gardens. We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready to have fun with us in Reception!
This term the Reception topic is traditional tales. When we are settled into our new classes and have learnt about the school routines, we will be ready to start storytelling. The focus will be on retelling stories, talking about the characters and what happens in the story. We will also be starting to learn our phase two phonics sounds and letters. In our maths sessions, we will learn how to use a variety of equipment to help us count and understand place value.
Wednesday is a very exciting day because we have PE, ICT and do forest school activities. Pupils can wear PE kit on the days that they have PE but it has to be the following:
- White T-shirt
- Black shorts for inside
- Black (plain) jogging bottoms for outside
- Black plimsolls for inside
- Trainers for outside use
For Forest school, children will need a pair of wellington boots and a waterproof coat. The boots will on our welly rack and the coat should be in a named drawstring or carrier bag which will be kept on their coat peg. Please name all items of clothing including wellington boots.
In Reception we use the tapestry online app for recording your children’s activities and achievements. All parents will have access to this app so that you can see your children’s learning.
