Curriculum: Year 4
Mrs Sheldrake and Miss O’Neill are the class teachers for 4 Sycamore.
We hope you have had an enjoyable summer holiday and are looking forward to welcoming you back into school. We have lots of exciting learning planned for you this year!
In the autumn term, we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptians, how the body digests food, playing basketball and in PSHE we will be thinking about ourselves and relationships with others. In English, we will be reading James and The Giant Peach by Roald Dahl followed by The Firework Makers Daughter and Aladdin by Phillip Pullman. We will have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Forest school on Friday afternoons. In assembly, which will happen in our classroom, we will be focusing on our 4Rs and this term we will consider ‘Responsibility’. In maths, we will begin with work on place value and the four rules of number. We will have a high focus on times tables as by the end of the year, all year four children will be expected to have instant recall of times tables up to 12 x 12.
Pupils must wear PE kit on the days that they have PE but it has to be the following:
- White T-shirt
- Black shorts for inside
- Black (plain) jogging bottoms for outside
- Black plimsolls for inside
- Trainers for outside use
This year we will be using Google Classroom, which will be explained to you in school. This year you will find your homework and other learning uploaded on here for you to access and respond to at home.
